Patel sued Stewartson in June 2023 over tweets that accused him of attempting to overthrow the government and labeled him with crude insults. Stewartson, a California resident, contested the Nevada case, arguing his posts were not aimed at Nevada audiences.
Stewartson celebrated the ruling on X, posting that people are now free to call the FBI director a "chud," a "googly-eyed Kremlin b----," and a "traitor" without legal risk. The dismissal is one of several setbacks for Patel, who has filed multiple defamation suits, including actions against former official Frank Figliuzzi and The Atlantic, the latter seeking to dismiss a $250 million claim.
